Room 303, Monday Afternoon

Between training Dinah, getting his own body back into shape- neglecting it for a few weeks hadn't done too much damage, but there was still some to make up for- and navigating the increasingly familiar strangeness of this place, Arthur's days were slowly filling up with things to do.

However, that didn't mean that at some indefinable point in the afternoon, he wouldn't find himself bored as all hell, sitting down on his bed. The idea that he had no duties here but going to class wasn't nearly as nice as some may have thought.

Nevermind the enduring trouble in getting home. He was attempting to speed up the healing of his arm with his mind by now.

Leto walked into the room, throwing a glance at Arthur. He sank down on a chair, then reached for the baliset and began to absentmindedly tune the instrument.

Oh, lovely. He was going to play that thing in here.

Arthur shot it a slightly baleful look, but decided to let the whole matter slide for now. "Afternoon," he said instead.

Leto looked up and smiled back, deciding to ignore that look. "Afternoon," he said, striking a chord.

"Is it just me," Arthur said, conversationally, "Or have the last two days actually been rather spectacularly quiet?"

It was a statement that showed a great deal more good breeding than 'could you please tone down the racket and yes, I realise that toning it down is not playing it at all at the volume you're currently working with'.

"Perhaps the dance tired everyone out," Leto said, his fingers tapping lightly on the fretboard. "Including the island itself."

"I could almost hope for another dozen, then," Arthur decided, "Or none at all, depending on the sort of peril they're keeping us from."

"The dance seemed harmless enough." Leto looked at Arthur, striking another chord. "Or do you disagree?"

"The dance was surprisingly fine, actually," he replied, "Especially when the punch was augmented."

"I made certain not to over-consume it," Leto said. "I hope your use of the room was satisfactory, as I had to sleep in the common room." Which had been quite nice too, actually. He did not regret it in the least.

"It was, thank you," Arthur said, offering him both a slight smile and a nod. "I hope the common room didn't foul you up too much. It seems a bit... dingy."

These were those legendary manners Dinah kept complaining about.

"The company was distracting," was all Leto had to say on the matter.

"Mm," he said, with a nod, "The best you can hope for, really."

"If Alice stops by, please be nice to her," Leto said. Alice could certainly deal with Arthur being his usual self, but hopefully she would find it entertaining if he mad an effort.

After classes and whatever she may be doing this afternoon other stuff, Dinah headed down to 303 to check to see if Leto would show her the baliset again, since that had been thwarted on Saturday.

She rapped her knuckles on the open door, eyebrows going up when she saw both roommates there, for once. "Hey guys. Ooo, yay, baliset!"

Leto looked up, grinning at her. "Dinah! Come in." He rested his hand on the neck of the instrument. "And thank you for the flowers."

"Dinah," Arthur also greeted, "Flowers? Really? I'm torn between wondering if you like me, and wondering if you think I'm a girl."

Dinah stuck out her tongue at Arthur, despite the risk of snark-- they weren't in the salle, he couldn't make her do anything! -- and said, "You're very welcome, Leto, and so are you, even if you can't say thank-you or hello like a normal person. I refuse to answer the other question on the ground of self-incrimination. And I'm here to hear the baliset again." Dinah gave Leto a hopeful look. "Please?"

No matter what, she'd always have better manners than Arthur. Too bad he didn't care about that.

Leto pulled up a chair next to his own and gestured for Dinah to take a seat. "How can I resist you when you ask like that?" he said, smirking. "Although I might make you play too."

Oh, lovely, times two. Arthur succesfully resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "Let's not promise anything that might cause undue harm to ears, Leto," he said instead, with a lift of his brow. "For one, at the speed she's going with those faces, her tongue may fall out."

Dinah glared, then made a face back, and said, "You don't play it with your tongue," okay, bad image, segue to, "And thanks, Leto. I'd like to try, at least?"

Leto gave her an amused look, raising an eyebrow. "At least not this instrument, no, and that's what I thought I'd teach you." He pucked the strings, playing a slow melody.

"No, but it may stop you singing," Arthur said, all dryness, and tilted his head at the instrument again. That, he supposed, wasn't too noisy, or at least in that tolerable area. "Is this a habit of yours?" He even managed not to sound irritable in the slightest.

Another small glare as Dinah turned red, and now, thanks Leto, mental images. Bad images. Arthur-and-Leto, which she *so* didn't want, no ack no!

Why had she thought this was a good idea, again?

"I sing well," Dinah muttered, and then tried to look attentive, watching Leto's hands. Great. More images.

That blushing was adorable, as always. He saw her watch his hands, and continued with a variation on the melody that went a lot faster. "We would like to hear you sing, then, Dinah," Leto said, glancing at Arthur.

"Or quack," Arthur provided, and shot Leto an equal glance in return. "Can we settle on 'warble'?"
