Room 325, Monday Morning

The salle was not exactly in the cards, no.

Even if Arthur had had illusions about getting up and training with the wound on his head, the wizard clinging to him had managed to get himself so involved with Arthur's limbs that as much as moving his leg to get out of bed was thoroughly impossible without destroying half of it.

Arthur was, ergo, doomed to lie there, snuggling a girly wizard while his head pounded like a drum. With the curtains closed. And all the warm blankets. And a bowl outside for the squirrels (albeit they were old nuts, so how far their bribing power went was another thing).

Yeah, Arthur wasn't deserving of that much pity. So maybe he liked his nose where it was: firmly in Merlin's nape.

"I could never hope to achieve your level of wit," Merlin replied honestly.

"I'm glad you acknowledge it," said Arthur, mollified, dropping his arm back into the pillows. "We're going to need breakfast eventually."

Of course that would involve moving, which might make his headache worse. Decisions.

"I could... find some of that cereal from the common room."

"We should start keeping cheese in here," Arthur muttered, mainly because Merlin's neck was in the way.

Merlin eyed him. "...I don't think cheese would keep in here."

"It'd be more useful than having to run down to the common room for cereal all the time."

Also, he was just comfortable, dammit.

"We could get a very small fridge," Merlin suggested.

And keep delicious things in it.

"Like the ones they keep in hotels. Excellent idea for once, Merlin!"

He needed the small joys in life.

"Perhaps storing less alcohol, though!"

"If we stored as much alcohol, there wouldn't be room for the cheese," Arthur pointed out, logically, "Which would be its main feature."

"And meats!"

That trumped cheese any day.

"We could store the rabbits from the hunt in there."

Pity the poor modern fellow who'd wander into Arthur's room and try to open his mini-fridge now.

"As long as they're already dressed."

"Mmm."

Arthur paused. With his face in Merlin's neck.

"...and now I am hungry. Thank you, Merlin."

Merlin grinned, kissing Arthur's head. "I'll get us something."

"Do," Arthur muttered, and began the ardurous task of detaching without giving himself another headache.

"Anything in particular?" Merlin asked, also attempting the disentangling. It was... mildly successful.

"Find something meaty," he decided, finally flopping back. Freedom! Sort of.

"And cheesy?" Merlin asked before slipping out the door.

"That," Arthur agreed, and did not at all roll into the spot that held Merlin's bodyheat. That would be ridiculous.

Utterly so!

Which meant he wasn't there when Merlin snuck back in with lunchmeat and some sort of cheese.

And bread.

"There wasn't much there, but I got some."

"Excellent," Arthur muttered.

Into the pillow Merlin had been lying on earlier. Shut up, it was his pillow, too.

"...are you even able to sit up?"

Oh, way to make it a challenge.

Arthur turned over (slowly, for effect) and stated, "Of course I can sit up, Merlin, I'm not a bloody invalid."

At which point he sat up, and valiantly ignored the ache it gave him.

Merlin rolled his eyes and plopped down next to him with the food. "Don't fall in it."
