Room 325, Monday Morning

The salle was not exactly in the cards, no.

Even if Arthur had had illusions about getting up and training with the wound on his head, the wizard clinging to him had managed to get himself so involved with Arthur's limbs that as much as moving his leg to get out of bed was thoroughly impossible without destroying half of it.

Arthur was, ergo, doomed to lie there, snuggling a girly wizard while his head pounded like a drum. With the curtains closed. And all the warm blankets. And a bowl outside for the squirrels (albeit they were old nuts, so how far their bribing power went was another thing).

Yeah, Arthur wasn't deserving of that much pity. So maybe he liked his nose where it was: firmly in Merlin's nape.

"'on't move," Merlin grumbled, trying to cling and not, you know, add to the injuries.

It was a work in progress.

"I do need to breathe occasionally," Arthur muttered, although about half of that wound up muffled on Merlin's neck.

Yeah, like that would work.

"You're breathing now," Merlin pointed out.

"With extreme difficulty," Arthur informed him, and wormed an arm under his.

Which didn't help any with the clinging issue, so maybe he was just complaining for the sake of it.

"Are not!" Really, Merlin was listening for that sort of thing.

"I'm just waiting for your stubbly elbows to poke a hole in my chest," Arthur told him, pressing a kiss into his neck. "Now that would be an ignoble way to die."

"I'm sure there are worse ways to go," Merlin replied loftily.

And steadfastly refused to move.

"Name one," Arthur said, shifting so he could shoot the guy a dry look.

Merlin opened his mouth to respond before promptly shutting it again. "While having sex?"

"Mhm, but that way you'd die happy," Arthur pointed out. Athough as of currently, the pounding in his head made it hard to connect 'happy' with anything that involved a lot of moving.

"But you're still dead and there's probably a funny look on your face."

"Well, you wouldn't really care, would you?"

He idly rubbed a thumb along Merlin's skin, somewhere right under his hairline, above his ear.

"Silly face," Nerlin repeated. "For all eternity."

"You're going to have that regardless of the way you die," Arthur told him. He was injured. He was allowed to be uncreative.

"...very clever," Merlin said, patting him on the back.

"I am, thank you," Arthur told him, unabashedly.

"Just keep telling yourself that."

Arthur smacked him lightly in the shoulder. "You, on the other hand, are not."

"I could never hope to achieve your level of wit," Merlin replied honestly.

"I'm glad you acknowledge it," said Arthur, mollified, dropping his arm back into the pillows. "We're going to need breakfast eventually."

Of course that would involve moving, which might make his headache worse. Decisions.

"I could... find some of that cereal from the common room."

"We should start keeping cheese in here," Arthur muttered, mainly because Merlin's neck was in the way.

Merlin eyed him. "...I don't think cheese would keep in here."

"It'd be more useful than having to run down to the common room for cereal all the time."

Also, he was just comfortable, dammit.

"We could get a very small fridge," Merlin suggested.

And keep delicious things in it.
