The weather was fair in the early summer; there was a light breeze that ruffled through the leaves of the trees that kept most of the citadel obscured from view, the skies were blue and the sun burned gently within them. Just outside of Camelot, a small group of traders were readying themselves to approach the gates.

Just one last check of their wares, and they'd be headed in to find their places, set up their stands and find their buyers.

Within, Prince Arthur made his rounds with purpose, and King Uther entertained the Lady Catrina. The people bustled along the streets and squares of the lower town, and the knights gathered near the training field to ready themselves for an afternoon spent having the piss kicked out of them by their liege.

No one particularly expected any strange visitors to show up. But at Camelot, that was rarely a guarantee for anything.

[[ ocd coming up! and for three people plus NPCs, whee! ]]

"At least you guys didn't end up in Ealdor?" Merlin offered in the general direction of... someone's shoulder.

"Or the wrong Camelot." Like the one that was a silly place.

That shoulder was probably not Katchoo's, her being the shortest of the three. Or, spazziness and hilarity factored in, it could have been.

They could've met Merlin's mom in Ealdor, Francine thought, perhaps a little wistfully, but without Merlin around to introduce them, it would have lacked a little something. Or a lot of something. "Here is way better."

You didn't need those ribs, did you, Merlin?

Nope!

"You guys managed to come at an... er... interesting time."

To say the least.

Oh Lord. Francine knew that phrasing. (Also she should probably stop squishing Merlin, disposable ribs or no.)

"Interesting how?"

Merlin glanced around to make sure no one was paying too much attention to them. "A Lady Catrina is visiting the king," he said, pulling away. "We--should get you clothing."

TROUSERS. ON THE WOMENFOLK.

Hey now! Francine had a skirt! It only brushed the backs of her knees, and was made of at least two ungodly machine-extruded fibers, but it was still a skirt. ...That only a crazy person or a harlot would wear in this day and age, yes.

"Ooh, like the dresses Morgana wears?"
