Woods Outside the Citadel, Camelot, Wednesday Morning

The phones were working. That warranted a trip out into the woods, under the pretense of going out for a ride with the Lady Morgana, to see how well their connection held up in Camelot. Contact some friends.

Arthur was wary; he'd clipped his Blackberry back to his hip where it used to be shortly after they entered the woods, but he hadn't actually stopped until they were far enough in that he could be sure no errant hunting party would run into him.

He slid off the horse, found a good place to stand, and rang.

"Like you haven't seen all my porn?" Oh wait, he hadn't. There were three more volumes of Taste of the Apple now. ...She was talking about porn on the phone in the lounge of a tube hotel. Oh God.

"Oh wait, your saddlebags!"

"Oh! I really ought to learn how they're made." So he could make them. Yes. This was a good idea.

"Oooh, homemade marshmallows. That could be fun!" Because after all, what could he possibly do to marshmallows?

That had gelatin in them. Which he'd have to get from horse's hooves or Fandom. Francine would vote Fandom if she'd actually looked up the ingredients.

No. No. Nooooooooooo. "Um. Maybe food coloring? Marshmallows are more the kind of things you add to something else."

"We don't have food coloring here." Other than, say, beets and onion skins.

The scary thing is that beet juice would probably work. As long as he only wanted pink marshmallows.

"You might want to stick with adding marshmallows to other things, then," Francine suggested. Oh so brilliantly, because anyone with a brain could now picture Roast Swan With Marshmallows emerging from the palace kitchens. Good thing that wasn't an issue for Francine. "If you can get back to Fandom whenever you want to, though, you can always get more!"

"I have. We just spent the last two days hiding in burned-out warehouses before we got here. I get it." Francine laughed more from relief that here she was laughing again than because it was all that funny. "Though now you've got me picturing you coming back to Fandom every time you need one."

It was probably better for all concerned than continuing the bathroom-related line of conversation, you have to admit.

"Portalocity dumped us in some weird run-down nightmare San Fransisco instead of the regular one," Francine said. "They got us out eventually, but we had to hide for a while."
