Room 325, Sunday Morning (and probably Beyond)

There was a nearly-empty squirrel bowl sitting on the edge of Arthur's window (outside; it was too cold to leave it open), there were a few pieces of furniture ajar (... the punch was evil, or Merlin's magic was at the worst of times, Arthur hadn't decided) and Arthur's mind was, for the moment, blessedly void of any further thoughts about Morgana's... you know.

Romantic life.

(After he'd fallen out of that tree while trying to get a look at her in the bath at age 14, he'd pretty much decided that her breasts were weapons of great destruction which would lead to the deaths of men yet, and-- okay, seriously, not thinking about it)

Instead, he was draped haphazardly across his bed with a wizard's hands pressed into his armpits, and snoring. Still.

Merlin mumbled something along the lines of Arthur having a very nice shoulder. But that was neither here nor there.

Arthur made an indecipherable noise and shoved at his arm.

There was invading personal space, and then there was invading personal space.

The war about his armpits was far from lost.

It was a long and drawn out battle too. But it was good to know that Aarthur knew when he'd been defeated.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

"...tired."

Arthur rolled his eyes. "You just slept." For... three hours? Four. Had to be four. "Lazy farmboy."

"I did work," Merlin grumbled.

"Yesterday was hardly work," Arthur argued, lazily, and turned a bit on the bed, getting those hands out of the way and shoving his face into Merlin's neck. "Mhm."

"I need to feed Owain." Note how he was getting up.

Yup.

Getting up aaaaany moment now.

"Indeed you do." Arthur taking the time to lick an idle trail up to his jaw probably wasn't helping either.

Yeah, that was helpful. So, so helpful.

Merlin tilted his head back, closing his eyes. "You could do that for me, you know."

"It's your owl," Arthur pointed out, helpfully, making his way up to the space just below Merlin's ear.

He kissed the shell, then grinned. "So I would suggest you quickly take care of your owl."

"You're distracting me," Merlin pointed out.

Arthur held up his hands, and backed away, still grinning unrepentantly. "Not at all."

Which earned him a very mature and masculine glare. "You're an ass," Merlin replied, shoving at him to roll out of bed.

Gracefully.

Immature and girly, you meant.

"Try not to take too long," Arthur said, flopping over extensively on the bed.

And rubbing at his own stomach.

MASCULINE.

"You look like a cat," Merlin shot back at him before fleeing the room.

...Well, that wasn't necessarily an insult, was it?

In fact, Arthur would take the excuse to take up even more space on his bed in a way best described as shameless. He eyed the ceiling thoughtfully.

... he really should seek out Morgana and make sure she kept herself, you know. Away from temptation.

So, when Merlin came back with flowers--over which he did not squeal, thank you--it should come as a shock to no one that one was tossed at Arthur's head.

"I should have known you were a romantic."

Arthur sort of glared at him. "I'm not," he said, with dignity. "But feel free to think that if it makes you feel better."

"Then I have a secret admirer then?"

"I didn't say that," Arthur muttered, plucking at the flower on his chest.

"It could be," Merlin continued. "I wonder who."

"Shut up, Merlin," Arthur told him, sitting up on the bed, "And enjoy your flowers."

Merlin chuckled, putting them down before tackling him back onto the bed. It wasn't exactly the best tackle, but it was a tackle none the less. "Thank you for them."

Arthur snorted, catching him around the midsection somewhere mid-tackle - even if he had to oomph at the sudden pressure on his lungs. He reached up to run his hand through Merlin's hair.

And kissed him. Hush.

"It was very--" Sweet wasn't a word Arthur enjoyed. "--kind of you," He said after kissing Arthur back.
