Room 325, Saturday Morning

Arthur was not always the most elegant to rise.

Especially not when he had someone's hands stuck in his armpits and the blanket was half-off the bed and the usual 'privacy time now' bowl of peanuts outside had frozen overnight (he was going to swear up a storm afterward about having to pay the squirrels extra for the privacy).

"Bloody hell," Arthur said - that was good morning, of a kind. "Who left the window open?"

The lack of lights wasn't nearly as impressive.

Arthur opened his mouth to retort, then paused. "Where do you keep the blankets anyway? And can't you just magic one?"

"No, I can't just magic them," Merlin grumbled, beginning the laborious process of untangling himself from Arthur to find the blankets.

"You should look into a heating spell," Arthur said, sensibly, rolling into the warm spot Merlin left behind to make up for the lack of an actual person in there. "And Lady Zoe should consider putting in fireplaces. Why throw everything in with the heating if it won't work?"

"You can talk to her about that," Merlin muttered, trying not to leave his feet on the clod floor too long as he hunted for the blankets in Arthur's cupboard.

"I may suggest it politely at some point," Arthur said, eying the ceiling.

"...politely?" Merlin countered, tossing one of the blankets at Arthur's head.

"Well, she is head of the school," Arthur started.

And then he stopped, because he was caught wrestling the blanket off of his head.

Which was followed shortly by a wizard who was freaking freezing. "Do you think the heat isn't working?"

"I think your brain might not be working," Arthur grumbled, yanking the bloody extra blanket over the bed.

"Shove off," Merlin grumbled, wriggling his way back into a warm spot again.

Arthur rolled his eyes. "I don't know why I'm even doing this, considering that you just threw a blanket in my face," he said (which was mostly just for the sake of complaining), reached over, and yoinked the boy closer. "--God, you're like an icicle."

That certainly helped. "It's cold! Of course I am."

"We could use you to measure temperature if you react this bloody quickly," he muttered, bunching the blankets around them more.

Merlin just mumbled something and shoved his hands up under Arthur's shirt. "You don't have to go anywhere, right?"

"It's a Saturday," Arthur said, trying to manfully surpress a wince at the sudden cold. "I was going to practice outside, but obviously that isn't happening."

"Good." He got to keep his heater. Very good. "We'll need another blanket, I think."

"I'm not getting out of bed," Arthur announced, "And I'm afraid if you venture into the air for one more second I really am going to be picking ice out of your hair."

"Ha. Ha." There was a pause. "We'll need food."

"There's peanuts," Arthur ventured, "But I was planning to use those to keep on bribing the squirrels."

Merlin hummed. "How far is the common room?"

"Twenty-four rooms down the hall," Arthur said, dryly, and focused on his warm toes to avoid thinking about his cold armpits.

They were slowly warming! And it wasn't like Arthur's feet were all lovely warm pressed against Merlin's calves, you know.

"We could make a run for food and then come back."

Arthur eyed him.

It lasted a few long seconds.

"Fine," he said, finally, "If you must be such a worrywart."

"I'd rather not starve," Merlin replied. "...and it's your turn to venture out."

"...Oh, come now." He got another look for his trouble. "Are you really that scared of the cold?"
