"I still have my trousers on," Arthur reminded him, dryly, and shot a glance towards the bath.

And then reached over and yanked on the knot of Merlin's neckerchief. That wasn't your trousers, Arthur.

Merlin made an undignified noise and started forward. "What?"

... Okay, now he did have to dodge a bit awkwardly to avoid getting headbutted, which would really ruin the mood. "...Avoid the nose."

The sponge went drifting up to the surface of the bath on accounts of Arthur settling his hand on Merlin's side to seriously no violence in the bathtub.

It wasn't like Merlin was trying to injure him!

"You could try warning me next time," He suggested sheepishly.

Arthur shot him a distinctly amused look, leaning back over now that things seemed safe to lean his forehead to Merlin's. "At least it got you to stop with your preposterous mockery," he said, "But for the sake of preventing future injury, that may be wise."

"Prat." Because it was true, thank you.

"I'm rather sure I've seen this in a movie and thought the mess it left in the bathroom was just a bit much."

"Maybe that was because you weren't a part of it," Arthur proposed. "I do keep telling you movies are nothing like reality, but I suppose it's too much of an effort for you to keep that in mind." He pressed a kiss to Merlin's lips. "Now," he said, "In the spirit of clarity, I am about to take you in hand. Think you can handle that?"

Merlin rolled his eyes. "I think I can handle that. It's the new things that might require a bit of talking."

"Is it?" Arthur asked, lightly, sticking to his word: he curled his hand around Merlin under water, stroking him once. "Because a bit of talking does go a long way."

Merlin shot him a look. "That so?"

"In some cases," he said, setting his chin down on Merlin's shoulder as his hand began to move leisurely. "Of course, you think I'm just smarmy."

"So--" Merlin cleared his throat and pulled him closer. "--you admit to being that?"

"I admit that you think that," Arthur informed his neck. Still lightly. "I also admit that I lured you into the bath just to keep you from complaining about being filthy when I use my mouth on you later."

What? The talking thing had been a challenge.

That sound? That was Merlin's brain breaking.

...and a whimper. A very manly one, mind.

Arthur grinned. Pressed a kiss to his shoulder, and sped up his hand. "Since we have a long evening, I suspect there's a good deal of places I can put my mouth, actually."

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" Merlin asked, snagging Arthur's hips tightly.

"Still believe I'm silly?" he asked, tightening his grip just a bit.

"Yes..." What were they talking about?

Nothing important, obviously. "I'm going to take that as a no," he decided, bucking his own hips slowly against Merlin, now.

He'd learned his lesson about trying to get Merlin to reciprocate with his hands. That was asking for injury.

"Ass," Merlin grumbled, kissing the side of Arthur's head. Because it was there, alright?

Arthur snorted. It would've been inaudible, had it not been right next to Merlin's head. "C'mon," he said, shifting in the bath and picking up his pace some.
