bitchprince | Room 325, Sunday Afternoon

Bored. Bored bored bored. A morning spent in the salle had not alleviated Arthur's enormous helping of boredom. He needed to distract himself. With no weapons allowed in the dorms, it had been a bit difficult (if not impossible, but he'd put it aside after a while) to work on Merlin's not-really-a-Christmas-present-anymore, so that was out, too.

He had already put Francine's sweater away as far as he could (it wasn't that he didn't appreciate the gesture. It was just that it wasn't... well, you know. He was trying to be nice, and it was decent craftsmanship, but it kept reminding him of Merlin's absurd obsession with items of clothing his mother had made), poked around the room, tried the Teevee (still not pleasant, especially without the distraction of someone in the room) and gone through the first chapter of Salammbo.

Nothing.

Which was why, by the time the middle of the afternoon rolled around, there was a dog sitting on Arthur's floor.

"Stay. Just-- no. Stay."

"Francine put a lot of work into it," Arthur decided upon, "And I suppose it doesn't look half bad on you."

... Not that he liked seeing the Pendragon crest on Merlin.

"It'll be warm for the winter," Merlin replied, petting the scarf.

"Something you wouldn't have to fear if you actually knew how to eat," Arthur said, graciously, his eyes flicking to the end of the scarf.

"Because you run about without a jacket in the winter, I suppose?"

"I," Arthur told him, giving his scarf a cursory yank, "Can actually survive the winter."

Arthur rolled his eyes. Expressively. And got up, rummaging around for a bowl of nuts. "Close the door, will you? I'd like to enjoy dinner without anyone poking about."

Merlin snorted in amusement, waving at hand at the door to shut and latch it. "You have more food?"

"Well, some insane person brought me a swan, and I think selfsame person left some biscuits because he's a bony wretch who doesn't know how to eat," Arthur said, putting the bowl out for the squirrels along with the usual sign.

"A complex about you eating?" Arthur asked, wandering back towards the bed. And leaning his hands onto the mattress on either side of him. "Now there'll be a sight."

Oh. Merlin blinked up at him for a moment before moving along with the plan. "I might!"

"You don't have the mind to develop a complex," Arthur informed him, leaning in for a light kiss.

"No, that's your mind," Merlin replied, kissing him back after a moment.

Arthur rolled his eyes, pulling back to flick him on the nose. "Watch it," he said, "I might not share the royal biscuits."

"Royal biscuits?" Merlin countered. "Is that what we're calling it now?"

"They're biscuits, and they were left in my care," Arthur retorted, flopping onto the bed next to him, "What else would you call them?"

Merlin just nodded, patting him on the chest. "Nevermind then."

Arthur squinted up at him. "You're mocking me," he surmised. "Must be all of that porn."

Mainly because he hadn't been paying any attention to the porn. "Please. It was on the teevee."

He cut a good chunk off his helping of swan and bit into it. Giving it a moment.

Tasted like Christmas back home all right.

"Besides, it doesn't detract from the fact that you were trying to mock me." Flail, Merlin, flail!
