Room 303, Sunday Morning

Arthur did not awake to the feeling of having slept particularly well. His head wasn't pounding, which was a good sign, but his brain felt like it still wanted to seep out of his head into something nice and unconscious of the sweetest kind.

He was usually an early riser. He was trying to remember why he didn't feel inclined to be so right now.

Of course, that's when he opened his eyes and found two very curious blue eyes peering back at him. "You awake yet?" Gawain demanded. Yes, demanded.

Oh, hell. "Go back to sleep," he ordered.

"But sir," Gawain said, plaintatively, "It's time for morning exercise."

Arthur was going to murder the world.

Arawn's response to this? To go faster. Open the door without any sort of announcement of his presence.

"Father!" When Hunith noticed who had arrived, she climbed out of bed. "Good morning!"

"Hunith..." No, that would not stop being strange.

Leto smirked just a little, then pushed himself off the floor, stretching his arms. "Good morning to you too," he said to Arthur.

"You've done us all a great service," Arthur informed Victoria, somewhat dryly. "Leto--"

"Oh, he's still here, then," Gawain contributed, making a face at the guy.

"Knocking, Merlin--" Arthur started.

Oh, wait. "...Arawn."

No, it wouldn't. Leto looked from Hunith to Merlin. "Perhaps a less... enthusiastic greeting this time?" he told Hunith.

He did not want the girl to freak out Arthur by doing magic.

That just earned him a very Atreides-like smirk in reply, and then Hunith turned to Merlin again. "Can I borrow that book today?"

"You may read it, but it will have to stay in my room," Merlin said, ignoring Leto's comment. And the Atreidesness of this all. "I'm-- still reading it myself."

"Patricide is generally considered a quite serious crime. Besides, I am not yet old enough to claim the throne." Besides, she quite liked her father and had no intention of killing him. She gave Gawain a disdainful look. "So are you."

"He's very fast," Merlin said, coming up behind the boy into the room.

Leto ignored Gawain. That seemed to be the best strategy. "Yes?" He looked at Arthur.

"I noticed," Arthur said, shooting the child a mildly befuddled look.

"Father!" Arawn repeated, and promptly attached to his leg.

This led to more looking. "Have you fed him?"

"Clearly some lessons on the discrete use of certain things could be useful," Leto quietly told Merlin. Because that was his responsibility. "Also, I intend to take her to the Fight Club today." Because that should distract any good Fremen girl.

"Nevermind patricide," Arthur said, glancing at the girl, "Regicide would be up there as well." He sat up more firmly, cautioning Gawain not to say another bloody word with a well-placed glare. "...Are we going to be living in a nursery all weekend?"

"Why don't I have my own room in this castle?" Arawn asked, holding on tightly. Climbing on Da was perfectly fine, but Father was king and you did not do that sort of thing.

Unless he did the picking up. He hoped he would!

"But I want to read!" Hunith objected.

"Yes, I already fed him," Merlin replied, rubbing his forehead in exasperation. "He eats as much as you do."

"He's a growing boy," Arthur pointed out, "If he wasn't eating well, there's no way he'd be able to handle a sword." He still was a little confused how he'd wound up like this, but let it never be said Arthur Pendragon didn't know how to roll with it when necessary.

... Give him a minute to deal with the question. "You don't live here," he tried, "We're all just... visiting." Kids.

"Yes, and the combination of the two would made sure one had a heavy burden of guilt to carry, should one concern oneself with that," Victoria continued.

Merlin shot her a look for that comment. "You may come and read with me after. Are you--doing that storm again?"

"Do you have a better suggestion?" Leto replied. He would not have his children - whatever dimension they were from - to sleep on the ground somewhere.

"Storm?" Leto asked Hunith, a little worried.

That appeased Arawn and he disengaged himself from Arthur's leg to very slowly peer over to the other side of the room. There was another bed.

"Is that for Da?"

"I'm switching mine up," Arthur offered, "I've only got him," he jerked a thumb at Gawain, "Until Dinah returns for him."

A short pause.

"...Dinah," he said, which was the most he could on the subject without upsetting the boy.
