Since it's that time of the term again, and I don't have anyone new, a quick round-up in bullet points of what you might or might not need to know about my kids. Now in full multimedial form with links and vids. Yes, I am bippy.
bitch_prince - ARTHUR PENDRAGON, Prince of Camelot
- TV Trope: Jerk Jock With A Heart of Gold
- Is probably best summed up between this and this, if you're fanvidly inclined. (Or this for a general Merlin overview. My fandom makes pretty fanvids)
- Is a nice guy rolled up in a snarky jackass. Will save you and your kitten from the tree. Will make fun of your headgear the next day. If he has to suck up his pride to save someone, he probably eventually will. ...And then make fun of you again. Anyway, if he's a jackass at your character, it's not me, it's him. ...Probably won't try to feed you rat stew or throw knives at you. Probably.
- Has an ego the size of a planet. Also has enough daddy- and duty-related insecurities to fill up a small tank. Also canonically dubbed 'pure of heart'. Funny how that works.
- Was raised to believe that Magic Is Evil and while he's dealing okay with it these days, it still occasionally gives him the twitches. However, his conception happened through magic, and killed his mom. Something which, funnily enough, his father has never told him.
- Does Not Always Deal Well with Fandom. Culture shock continues to hit him hard when he least expects it. Which is another reason why he might act up towards other characters; again, it's not me!
- Is That Arthur, yes, and due to the proliferation of King Arthur mythos through so many canons, we're not metaing that away. That means your character CAN recognise him (and his canonmates) as being Those Denizens of Camelot. Mentioning them to Arthur will get you a roll of the eyes at best, a slight twitch of the issues at worst. (Also, Arthur's Albion/England is not yet united, as he isn't king yet; Camelot is but a small kingdom within it, and he currently doubts that that would ever actually happen)
Note: If your character knows some incarnation of Arthur/Merlin/what have you in canon? Please let me know before you ping my boy. It's not a no-go zone, I'd just like to know!
- Is here with his manservant/BFF
bigdamndestiny and his foster sister,
nevertobequeen.
- Runs the Fandom Fighter Reserve with
future_sandworm and
puppy_fair.
- Is not exactly emotionally communicative and can be very, very ridiculous. And very, very earnest. Fear that Blackberry of his, guys.
chose_humanity - MITCHELL
- TV Tropes: Friendly Neighbourhood Vampire Defector From Decadence
- Fanvid-wise, this would about cover him.
- Is a teacher.
- Has only recently managed to quit drinking blood, and is currently trying to mingle with humanity with varying degrees of success.
- Is generally friendly with a layer of laid-back mockery amongst humans; supernaturals might deal with a meaner, more serious Mitchell.
- Is here with his 'ward', the werewolf
wantstobehuman, mostly to make sure he's dealing well with the whole being a werewolf thing. And no, it is not Like That.
- Does not reflect in silver-laced surfaces (mirrors, cameras) but does in everything else (windows, for example). Can't come in without an invitation. Eyes go black if his bloodlust picks up enough to get the fangs out. Stronger and more resilient than your average human being. Doesn't catch flame in the sunlight, but his eyes are sensitive to it, so outside he tends to wear sunglasses.
- Can not drink fake or bagged blood. It has to come straight out of the human, or not at all. He can, however, survive without, and has for some time. It's dealing with the addiction that's hard.
- Was turned into a vampire during the First World War, in order to save the lives of his men.
- Has run away from a whole host of trouble back home, which he may or may not have to deal with again.
endsthegame - ENDER WIGGIN
- TV Tropes: Unfettered Woobie.
- Can has no fanvids, as he is from a book. Ender's Game, to be exact, with a light sprinkling of Ender's Shadow and the occasional slight reference to Ender in Exile.
- Is a third child, his sister
a_demosthenes and brother Peter having come before him. Back home, having more than two children wasn't allowed up until recently, and Ender spent his childhood being bullied.
- Went through Battle School to become Admiral of the entire space fleet sent out to stop an alien race, the Buggers, before they would invade Earth a third time. Ender killed every single one of them. Ender... wasn't told it wasn't a simulation. Ender has Issues with a capital I.
- Was pretty much ruthlessly manipulated his whole life to begin with, and doesn't really trust people. He's internalised the notion that no one is ever going to save him, and he seems content with that.
- Does not like being touched by most people. Keeps people at an emotional distance. Can talk about his past, but only when necessary, and rarely ever Talks about any feelings attached to it. Is kind of insomniac.
- Is also really really smart and spends his time observing people.
- Seriously, don't grab him or anything like that without warning. He is still a ruthless bastard, even if he hates being a ruthless bastard.
spring_lost - NATHAN DAYSPRING ASKANI'SON SUMMERS (and that's not the whole name, folks)
- TV Tropes: Messianic Shell Shocked Veteran
- My Heart Is A Fiiiist...
- Hails from the pages of Cable & Deadpool, right after he canonically blows himself to pieces. Instead of being dragged off into an awesome cross-universe crossover and left to peter out in a crappy new solo series, he wound up at Fandom High!
- Works as the manager of Wellspring Arms and as the Mayor of Fandom Town. Funnily enough, these two functions tend to coincide a lot in Fandom.
- Did in fact go through the aforementioned cross-universe crossover a little over a year ago. He now holds custody over the little mutant girl he wound up kidnapping, Janice Summers. Yes, we know that she's canonically called Hope. It's a Joss we just choose not to accept because it's a crappy name.
- Is a stoic know-it-all who doesn't tend to engage in socializing unless he has a good reason for it. Is in a We Don't Know What To Call It But Let's Say Partnership with
mouthy_merc. It only took them about eighteen months in Fandom plus many years of trying to kill each other to get there.
- Is a mutant telekinetic and telepath with a body that's half-metal and many decades of combat experience to his name. He is also 6'7'' and visibly scarred. Just, you know, saying; this is why I don't have him fight much. Ahem. Love your scary canon Sues.
- Used to have his own island. Then he blew it up. Now he has another one. Funny how that works.
headkickpoet - RAY KOWALSKI
- TV Tropes: Jerk With a Heart of Gold
- Formerly a cop with the Chicago Police Department, now works as a Sergeant at the Fandom PD. He got the promotion after staffing the station around the clock during the zombie invasion.
- Does not like to think about things like zombie invasions. Or paint falling from the sky. Or glitter. In fact, does not like to think about weirdness at all, and copes by blaming it all on his bff
just_add_starch.
- Has a turtle and a girlfriend,
lots_of_olives. Is sure how he got one, but not the other.
- Is generally partnered up with the esteemed Detective Constable
justice_beat. They have one of those Odd Couple things going on, man.
- Talks kinda funny and likes chocolate in his coffee. Is just generally a normal streetwise Chicago cop trying to keep his sanity around the place, really.
I... think that's all. Watch me edit this another gazillion-- Oh, right.
- I have no tropes. I do spend way too much time there.
- I am Dutch, which means I am on the charming timezone known as CET (Central European Time) which IS NOT A FAKE TIMEZONE, GUYS. I'm generally up early in the mornings and in bed early in the evenings, so between 12 midnight EST and 4 PM EST is your best bet for catching me.
- Oh, and hi! My name is Len. I have been here for two years now on the exact dot. This should probably scare me more than it does. I don't bite, but I will talk your ears off. Fair warning.
- You can find me at ScaryWlsh or ShootingUnicorns (which, before anyone asks, is totally an Arthur reference. Yes, he shot a unicorn. Special, special boy) most days!
- If you leave me alone with one of my own pings long enough, I will edit it like crazy. Sad, but true.
